I have made a calculator to help you find out whether are you overspending. This calculator is based on the "Report on the Household Expenditure Survey 2012/13 Table 38" by the Department of Statistics Singapore. In this calculator, you basically are required to specify how many individuals are staying with you and as well as your property type. The calculator will show you the average household expenditure for those having the same household size and property type as you. You can than determine whether is your expenditure above or below this average.
As the statistics is based on the survey done in 2012/2013, I have also included a field to adjust for inflation. The average expenditure will be inflated by this expenditure accordingly.
By using this calculator and if you are found to be overspending, it is time to cut cost. If you are underspending significantly, it is time to relax and enjoy life after all you cannot bring your wealth with you when you depart from mother earth.

This is a fun tool 🙂
But expenditure should depend on cashflow and not the type of housing.
A person without much income may have inherited a landed property from his parents, but doesn’t mean he can spend much.
But I do agree with the principle that we should enjoy life since we can bring it to the thereafter…
